Baldwin Park, Los Angeles County
Baldwin Park takes its name from Elias J. Baldwin, the mining speculator known as Lucky Baldwin, who owned much of the surrounding valley in the late 1800s. The farm settlement was first called Vineland, for its grapes. It became a city in 1956, and commuter trains to downtown Los Angeles now stop at a station beside city hall.
